Julia in Chicago

Julia is settling into her new surroundings. After a weekend of transitioning to her new environment, she is ready to begin intensive physical therapy to regain her strength. She is eating more solid foods. Saturday she enjoyed a turkey sandwich--a welcome change from a feeding tube. While an earlier post anticipated setting up a schedule for visitors, the new medical team is advising Julia is not ready for this yet and it is likely to be some time before visitors will be allowed. This road to recovery is going to be long and arduous, but we know Julia will never shy away from a challenge. Sometimes first steps are the hardest, but she's on her way.

Wendy, James and Andrew appreciate all your messages of support and want to reassure you that they are reading theses messages and also read them to Julia. She especially enjoys the messages from her friends and teachers, so please keep them coming.

Many of you have offered to make meals for the family. Sherry Kaplan will be coordinating the meal schedule. If you are interested in providing a simple, wholesome meal please contact Sherry kaplan.enteract@rcn.com .

Wendy, the last time we were together you said your group of friends all cooked well, so I guess it is time to see what we can do
Julia, it sounds like you might be ready for some home cooking as well.
